Develop a Positive mental state for Tennis
Having a positive mental state is one of the most important factors in the
performance of all athletes. Tennis is like any other sport and a positive
player with a great attitude is always better than one with a negative aura.
Especially if you are only a beginner, keeping a positive frame of mind
throughout your training and your progression, you are more likely to go further
in the sport than another beginner athlete who gets angry or frustrated or even
give up. All this being said, keeping a positive mind is quite a hard task.
Positivism can be described as the degree to which you think positively of
your own yourself as well as how well you are able to shield doubt from your
mind.
Of course, as any beginner or advanced athlete you want a very high degree of positivism. To achieve this state you never want to tell yourself that your opponent is superior or that he is winning purely out of luck, then your positivism is too low. However too much positivism can be a bad thing, don’t get too carried away with high-positivism. If you always believe that you are going to win a match no matter what happens, then you will easily be careless and it might lead to a bad performance on your part.
As a final note, you should always have faith in your overall improvement. Always
remember that you will have a great deal of future progression no matter what your
level is. Even champions have never reached their full potential and will always have
a potential to have a stronger game.
